Infomercial Formats

There are many formats to choose from when producing an infomercial. The following descriptions will help you understand each of them:

1) The Demo Format: This is an infomercial where the product is featured at the core of the commercial. It is usually shot in a studio and can have an audience present. It revolves mostly around the demonstration of the product. The demonstrator usually talks to the audience and can also have a co-host to answer questions with.

2) The Documentary: This is a format mimics television news programs. They are either done with voice-overs, live or recorded, on camera interviews and in multiple locations. They are usually taped in a report style and they are similar to traditional documentaries.

3) Lecture format: The lecture format is usually a speaker and an audience. They explain the uses or assistance the product is capable of. There can be stories told to help the viewer understand how and why it works.

4) Talk show format: This is the format that mimics a talk show such as Oprah. It is a way for an interview to be imitated and the product is explained with a series of questions being answered.

5) Video Magazine: This infomercial format is similar to the documentary format but is less serious. It usually involves co-hosts.
